September 1st, we cross back into Canada, for a short time anyway. We drove to down Haines junction, then found a place to camp for the night just before the border again.
2-3
We crossed back into the US, then stayed at Haines for the night in a carpark near the ferry terminal. The next day we took a flight in a 60 year old Lockheed Beaver (in mint condition) to Skagway to pick up another couple of guys, then did the Glacier Park flight, really good. Saw the bears at Chilkoot Lake, which Lyn videoed, we were very lucky to get them, excellent. The salmon were so thick in the river you could walk on them, but at this stage of their life they are not good eating, as they are spawning, and it is illegal to take them there anyway. The bears are fussy with them too, they tend to just eat the stomach and roe, and throw away the rest.

The immaculate 60 year old plane we flew over Glacier National Park in,
Arial view of one of the glaciers during the flight
Another spectacular view from the flight, a couple of the glaciers empty into the water
The bears fishing for salmon in the river near Chilkoot Lake, there were 4 of them, and they weren't concerned about us at all. we were about 50 ft away at one stage, time to move then.......

Crossed back into Canada again, then wildcamped near Johnson’s Crossing for the night. From there we called in at Liard Hot Springs, just off the highway, really nice to soak in the warm water for a while. The springs are well done, a bit like a swimming pool, with different temperatures depending on how close to the source you are. Near here are a large herd of buffalo, and they don't care about people at all. Sometimes you have to wait for them to get off the road so you can continue your trip, just don't hurry them, they are big enough to do real damage! Wildcamped on a deserted airstrip on the banks of the Liard river, great night, great spot, lit a campfire, first one in a long time. Stayed up way too long, talking and drinking too much. Campfires are good like that.

Some of the buffalo we saw next to the road, they are big when you are up close to them!
Liard hot springs, great place to relax and unwind, and warm.........
Our campsite on the banks of the Liard river, a beautiful spot, no-one around for miles.

Wild camped next to a lake just south of Fort Nelson. From here down there was a lot of smoke in the air from the bushfires covering a lot of BC, and a fire ban was in effect. The scenery on the drive was great all the way, but there was nothing that you could capture on film, so we didn't.......

Camped at Bijoux Falls, south of Chetwynd, right next to the highway, after another long day at the wheel.

Bijoux Falls, we spent the night in the parking area next to them.

Camped at Cemetery Rd, Clinton, a dirt track leading behind a cutting just off highway. Not a very inspiring place, we were tired, and it was handy and private.
8-11
Drove to Chiliwack, met up with Brent and Laurie, who we had first met in Mexico, and stayed with them at their friend Karen’s property. Really good to catch up again, and do a few domestic things that needed doing, like washing clothes etc, and checking a few things on the truck. Brent and Laurie gave us a tour of Vancouver, a really pretty city right on the water.
