A fairly short drive today to Toronto, and our friend Ian’s place, where we would park the truck in his driveway for a few days before the HU meeting a couple of hours east of Toronto. We stopped off at London, and got a road map of Ontario from the visitor’s centre, then continued on to Burlington, on the edge of Lake Ontario, where we stopped for some lunch at the only park we could find, which turned out to be an exclusive golf club car park. Needless to say we were asked to move on, which we did after finishing our cup of tea. The gps took us the rest of the way to Ian’s house, where he was expecting us. Great to catch up with him again, we haven’t seen him since 2015 back in Australia.

The next couple of days were spent at Ian’s, where he was the perfect host, showing us the sights around Toronto. These included lookouts over the city, and a great lunch at the revolving restaurant in the CN Tower, magic views from up there. We also caught up with a few domestic chores, as you do when you stop driving for a while.

We drove a couple of hours to the Horizons Unlimited meeting at Roseneath, Ontario, where we had a couple of presentations to do. Great time as always, met a heap of like minded people, including some we had met at the Virginia meeting. We weren’t staying the Saturday night, as Ian had organised a BBQ for us with a few of his friends, so we headed of back to Toronto on Saturday afternoon. A great night again, having a few drinks with Ian and his friends, lots of laughs as always.

We had arranged to meet up with Charlie and Linda from Virginia at Niagara Falls on Sunday night, so drove down and had a top dinner at the revolving restaurant overlooking the falls. A really enjoyable time, we stayed late and saw the fireworks, then drove back to Toronto, arriving back at Ian’s around midnight. While back in Toronto, we also met up with Greg Nightshadow, a guy heavily involved in the Ironbutt association in Canada, and a friend of Marco and Abbey from Mexico. We visited the markets with him, and had a look around, great to meet him.

From Toronto we drove back past Niagara Falls, where we did the boat trip into the mist of the falls, good fun, but when you in there, you can’t see a thing. Just as well they give you a plastic poncho to keep the water off. Mike and Chris, a couple of sailors and bikers who we met briefly at the HU meeting in Ontario live just south of the falls, so we called in there for the night, and ended up staying 3 nights. Great people, and a wealth of knowledge about sailing, so I picked Mike’s brains while we were there. Thanks guys we had a ball, look forward to returning the hospitality when you visit Oz, and punishing your livers!
